The most productive decade of Caillard's career. Established in his rue Clauzel studio, he continued painting Brittany while multiplying sojourns in Spain and acquiring a house at Javea near Alicante in 1953. In 1949 he had co-founded the group of Painters of Poetic Reality alongside Brianchon, Cavaillès, Legueult, Limouse, Oudot, Planson, and Térechkovitch — one of the most coherent groupings in mid-century French figurative art.
