1920s
The 1920s mark Caillard's emergence as an independent artist. After training in the shadow of Montmartre and a decisive encounter with Maurice Loutreuil — who would shape his vision — he began exhibiting alongside Eugène Dabit and establishing himself in the Parisian milieu. His early palette draws heavily on the Post-Impressionist tradition he absorbed in the studios of the Butte.
