Throughout his career Caillard maintained a studio in Paris — first near the Pré-Saint-Gervais, later at the rue Clauzel in the 9th arrondissement. The city appears in his work as a backdrop of quotidian life: interiors, figures, studio compositions, and the immediate neighbourhood he inhabited for over five decades.
